Well, hopefully, new baby goats will arrive around April 25th and 26th. We have bred Samba and Jitterbug to David Brank's wonderful buck, Brankton Nike's Kipling. He scored 89 points on his confirmation exam last spring.
We received verification that we can use the herd name Mountain Star. We will be registering Buckey as Mountain Star Honus after Sarah's Dad's Carl Sandburg goat and our doe will be registered as Mountain Star Adhara Dali.
Adhara is a star located in the Epsilon Canis Majoris constellation. All of our does will be named after stars. 2008 goats will begin with A's. 2009 names will begin with B's, etc.
We decided to sell Bebop and Buckey to Chuck Campbell and Sarah York of Moores Pond Farm. It was a difficult decision to let Bebop go but in the end I think it is a good thing to do. Now our herd consists of Samba, Jitterbug and Dali.
A Miracle has happened. My brother Jeff, his wife, Di and son, Cole and daughter Sarah come to visit. First time ever. We are thrilled. We make pizza, bread, go to the Biltmore House, Grove Park Inn and Vance's Birthplace. It was one of the best times of my life.
We have been very busy since the last post in January. We bought 25 chicks, Americaunas, cuckoo marans, columbian wyandottes, blue red-laced wyandottes, red caps, and one mystery chicken and they arrived April 14th.
I live on Upper Flat Creek Road in a beautiful valley across from Claxton Farm. I raise registered French Alpine Goats and rainbow egg chickens. I sell the eggs to friends in the community. jreneegarcia@gmail.com
